I didn't start ETDS Detroit as a business idea looking for a market. It came out of two of the hardest seasons of my life: watching my father face cancer treatment, and watching my sister navigate a NICU stay with her daughter. What Did I Learn From My Father's Cancer Journey?

My late father. I watched him in hospital corridors. I sat beside him through appointments and treatments and days when the medicine was doing everything and the human care was nowhere. I watched him face his illness without the comfort and presence that every person in that season deserves. He is the reason Inner Blooms exists. What Happened When My Niece Was Born Too Soon?

My beautiful sister. When her daughter arrived too early, I watched her navigate the most terrifying weeks of her life largely alone. The system did what it could. The community did not always know what to do. And she needed something nobody had built yet. My beautiful, smart niece. Born May 23, 2013. That tiny, fierce, fighting girl in the NICU incubator.
